Data Catalog

Dexes developed an Open Source data catalog services in cooperation with 5 municipalities in the Netherlands. The catalogue enables the local governments to keep track of all data and dataservices that are available for public and internal use. All public data can be published as Open Data for reuse. 

 

 

The catalogue supports the dutch Reuse of Government Data legislation (“Wet Hergebruik Overheidsinformatie” based on the EU Public Service Information Act). The municipalities form a community to support the ongoing development of the data catalog. 

 

In 2025 the catalogue was extended to support the Freedom of Information Act in the Netherlands (“Wet Open Overheid”). It is now possible to publish all data, documents and information objects for public access in one portal. 

 

 

Current public partners in the community are Gemeente Utrecht, Groningen, Hilversum, Oss, Nijmegen en Land van Cuijk.  

Main characteristics

The catalogue is a large meta store with an excellent search function. Data and documents can be added manually or via an OpenAPI.
